About The Desegregation of Education
The Struggle for Educational Freedom provides an in depth view of the white and black perspectives during the fight for an equal educational system. The battle for an educational opportunity for everyone included many court case decisions, legislative acts, popular activists such as Martin Luther King Jr., and the aid of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). However, this push was met with much resistance from many southerners, higher educational institutions, and radical politicians such as Orval Faubus. The results of this struggle for educational freedom can be viewed through the controversy of the Little Rock Nine and later, the formation of equality in all historically black colleges.
